Inspiration for my work comes from a physical and spiritual connection to nature. It’s natures vulnerability within today’s ever changing world that I seek to share through art.

Amanda Oliphant graduated from Liverpool John Moore’s University with a BA Hons (1st class) in Fine Art in 2005 followed by a one year Fellowship at Wirral Metropolitan College in 2006, where an exhibition at the Williamson Art Gallery showed an extensive collection of her work. Amanda then undertook further study with an MA in Art as Environment at Miriad, Manchester Metropolitan University allowing continued research into Art and Ecology.

Amanda’s work has developed over a number of years through a wide range of disciplines including sculptor, new media, drawing, installation and most recently, painting within the landscape itself. Her passion for art continues to lie within the skill of transforming ideas and materials into new creative assemblages, presenting new artworks that engage further dialogue, but it is the desire to take her work further into ecological issues that organically steered it within Art and Ecology.

Being described as a ‘manipulator of materials’ having a tactile and connective association to the objects and materials being transformed, Amanda’s varied works are metaphors for exploring associations to the natural world through different mediums. Always highlighting intricacy and detail that would otherwise go unnoticed, her artwork creates questioning and provokes new narratives towards our natural surroundings. Amanda continues to be an active member of several artist groups with future projects and collaborations taking place. Her artistic boundaries are constantly being re-arranged by new challenges, workshops, travels and exhibition opportunities, nationally and internationally.
