COMMISSIONS

Working with Wild in Art and other companies was a phenomenal experience of learning and discovery within projects such as, Superlambanana’s, Go Penguin’s and The London OLYMPIC Discovery Trail Mascots. Iconic symbols brought to life through collaborations between artists/designers and the public realm. From the design stage, to selection, the delivery of the sculptures to work on in my studio/industrial park, to then releasing them into the wild, was a surreal experience. Attending the corporate bidding auctions completed all elements, presenting a journey of concept to reality. An exploration of our relationship with an object that lives on….somewhere! Wild in Art takes a creative vision working with artists and organisations that have the power to stimulate further questioning. For me, rising to such challenges creates new ideas, forms new relationships and brings art to a wider audience.

SUPERLAMBANANA

Working with Virgin Trains (SuperlambananaTree), Unilever (UnileverSuperlambanaBilly) and Wild in Art (London promotion), my designs were a collaboration of what they imaged and what ‘I’ could deliver.

SuperlambananaTree was the result of much research, travelling on trains, sketching and photographing journeys, eventually it came down to how we see the landscape travelling at speed. The trees become blurred, sculptural ‘fragments’ of time. My objective was to capture the essence of a trees structure making it not only memorable but tactile.

I feel privileged to have been selected for this exciting project.

PENGUINS

Working with Liverpool ONE in 2009 to create a design that ‘represented’ the vibrancy and showy retailers of the city was no mean feat! For me it had to be a peacock, the most showy and glamorous of ‘birds’ and FeatherFashionista was the result.

OLYMPIC MASCOTS, LONDON 2012

Being selected for two London 2012 Olympic WENLOCK mascots was huge. It involved a lot of design elements, collaboration with the sponsors and researching the sites where they were going to placed (and trips back and forth to the big city).  One mascot was placed on Embankment and the other located in the centre of the city. Painting onto a 3D surface brings its own challenges, specially how flexible you can be covering ALL areas! It was a thrill to see them in situ during the games, reaching an audience of hundreds of thousands.
