I know I can never be landlocked. There is a love of where sea meets land or land meets the sea, a fascination with the forces of nature. I am driven by the elements that collide everyday but also by the peaceful serenity of a place.
Painting within the landscape itself presents endless challenges, whether it is on the Wirral Peninsula or along the Cornish coast, I am always being driven by the elements that collide everyday but also by the peaceful serenity of a place, never two days being the same.
Painting both outdoors and then back in the studio helps to build a painterly story, expressing many layers that sometimes I have to walk away from, find time to reflect, and then return. They are a reconnection to place, an interpretation of the natural world.
COLLAGE / DRAWING
The discipline of collage and drawing remains a key element in the process of realizing an idea, often supporting my three-dimensional works. Drawing not only allows for an in-depth investigation and exploration of an idea but often, it ‘becomes’ a finished piece.
Creating works that reveal hidden elements within nature is fundamental to my portfolio. I work with found objects, changing form and function through manipulation helping to reconnect us back to the materials being used.
Working on private commissions and large corporate projects has allowed my work to be placed within unconventional environments. Whether it is working from my studio in the North West, or being out in the environment itself, even in industrial workshops.
Amanda’s Workshops are full of artistic inspiration and are suitable for all levels of ability from Primary Key Stage 1 up to A Level one to one course work support. Please feel free to enquire for further details.
