WELCOME

I am a contemporary artist born in Yorkshire based on the Wirral Peninsula. My abstract paintings are a sensory experience of being in a landscape recording the marks we leave behind, expressing energetic yet poetic compositions. Working in an intuitive and gestural way in the studio, sometimes on location or away on a residency, it is nature that resonates deeply within me.

I am a Trustee and Lead Artist at BADA (British Art and Design Association) developing excellence in the Arts.

A range of artwork sizes will be on display – if you’re looking for something bespoke or larger in scale, please come and find me for a chat.

NEW!  My Journal – Stories from my Studio

Thoughts, inspiration and behind-the-scenes glimpses of my creative process as an artist.

Amanda Oliphant

My paintings are a reconnection to time and place, a narrative of my art practice. They are a continuation of me, a unique tactile shared experience. My work and recorded words are affected by external influences to a place, an abstract sense of time. Through expressive mark-making know as *asemic writing (*without the smallest unit of meaning), and a signature use of colour, the paintings represent what you can not always see, they are a faculty of consciousness.

From wide open vistas where we loose our sense of existence, to unforgiving coastal cliffs exposing the edge of a landscape, to dramatic weather patterns rolling in or leaving us and dense magical woodlands tucked away in a hillside, I am inspired with every vision. There is an endless beauty in the unknown/unseen, a conversation is ignited as soon as the paint touches the surface…
